To be touched by a whale is to be changed forever ...
"You look GREAT!" they'll say...
You'll wink and say "I took a journey...
...Oh the journey I took!"
"You look HAPPIER!" they'll say...
You'll giggle and say "I took a journey...

...Oh the journey I took!"
"You look so ALIVE!" they'll say...
You'll beam and say"I took a journey...

...Oh the journey I took!"
"Tell me all about it" they'll say...
...and your soul will recount the story of the journey that changed life as you know it.
Imagine an adventure that will put you out in the middle of nowhere; a magnificently beautiful nowhere of private pristine beaches and breathtaking vistas. Your camp–your home away from home–will be simple, safe, and comfortable. Your pace will begin to flow to the rhythm of the nature that surrounds you ...
Imagine drifting off to sleep under the nightlight of the stars and the lullabies of dolphins and the nightsongs of coyotes ...
Imagine waking up to the gentle sound of whales breathing nearby...
Imagine being invited by a pod of dolphins to kayak among them, to play their games and to sing their songs ...
What you cannot even BEGIN to imagine is what happens to your soul when the first whale pushes her calf into your outreached hand with a trust that says "I know you" ..
And it's at this moment,
that life as you know it is forever changed.

Baja Mexico
Dates Feb/March, 2013
Join in the adventure of a lifetime.
This adventure will begin in Loreto, Mexico where you will meet the others who will be joining you on this soul transforming journey. We will have our opening workshop, a fabulously authentic mexican meal out on the town and spend our first night in Loreto .
The next day we'll be up bright and early to depart for the Sea of Cortez. There we'll connect with our local guide, our kayaks and gear and begin our first day "at sea".
We'll spend the next couple of days kayaking and snorkeling in the Sea of Cortez. We'll spend 2 nights camping expedition style (i.e. no modern "facilities," though we will have someone to cook fabulous meals for us!) on private, exquisitely beautiful Baja beaches. Your tent will have a guaranteed oceanfront view!
Next we move on to San Ignacio Lagoon where our friendly whales will be waiting for us. Every day we'll go out several times to connect and play with our newfound friends. Here, we'll trade in our kayaks for pangas (18 ft. wooden boats.)
Our guides take exquisite care to ensure the whales are not compromised in any way, making sure that human encounters with them are respectful. We'll set out after breakfast for whale interactions. A little lunch, a little more whale watching; sprinkle in some kayaking, some beach combing, some rest and relaxation, some psyche stretching work with Rhégina, and you have the recipe for our Baja adventure.
We'll start and end our days with meditations and visionings guided by Rhégina. We'll gather throughout the week for workshops and chats that will help you explore and expand your consciousness.
This spiritual adventure is for anyone who knows in their heart of hearts that anything is possible. Your job is to show up, to let go and to allow the wonders of this retreat with these gentle giants to touch and transform you... forever.
A note about "Friendly Whales" from our hosts:
Most tourists who make the magical journey to San Ignacio Lagoon for a multi-day adventure are rewarded with a "friendly whale" encounter -- a chance to touch, pet, scratch, or otherwise make meaningful contact with a gray whale.
HOWEVER, we do not pursue, chase, or harass the whales to ensure a friendly encounter. It is up to the whales to decide to approach us. This friendly behavior towards the whales is almost universally abided by all of the whale watching organizations of San Ignacio Lagoon. This is one of the things that differentiates San Ignacio Lagoon. "Through decades of practice, my father, brothers and I have become quite good at sensing the whale behavior, and spotting a potentially friendly whale, but we can never guarantee one," says Pancho. We'll gently glide up next to the whales, and it's guaranteed that you'll see them within a few yards (meters) but it's solely the whale's decision to come to our boat to interact.
San Ignacio Lagoon is the place with the highest percentage of "friendly" encounters, and almost every day there are many "friendly" encounters within the Lagoon. The regulations permit only two boats around one friendly whale at a time, so we might see other boats with a "friendly" whale but not necessarily have access to it.
One of the wonderful things about Baja with the Mayoral family is that they have a decades-old relationship with these whales. Pachico and his family may be recognized by more gray whales than any other humans alive.
