You're surrounded by all kinds of people in your life. You can physically see them--friends, coworkers, family, neighbors, etc, etc... But what about that group you can't see? What about spirits and other non physical energies? For our purposes here, what about your spirit guides? And what about contact with your spirit guides?
Just as we are energy in body, spirit guides are energy not in body. They've had human lives but at this point they're non physical beings. There are all kinds of spirits, just as there are all kinds of people. Some you wouldn't want meet in a dark alley, much less learn from.
But your spirit guides are a special group. These, along with your higher self, are your non physical teachers--your guides, your mentors. They have so much for you--so much guidance, comfort and just downright unconditional love for you.
And let's face it, unconditional love is always welcome!
There's nothing scary about your spirit guides or contact with them. We tend to get overly excited about things we can't see, things we can't prove. But think about it, so much of the really great stuff in your life isn't visible at all.
So a leap of faith may be in order for you if you've never experienced your spirit guides before and if you want contact with your spirit guides. But it's a leap of faith that's worth more than you can imagine.
When you first have contact with your spirit guides it can feel very much like you're loosing your mind.
I remember the first time I had contact with a spirit guide, well the first time I really understood what was going on, I thought I'd gone over the deep end. It took me a long time and many "tests" to finally trust that this wasn't some part of my mind playing tricks on me.
You see the thing is, there's really nothing spectacular about contacting your spirit guides. You've done it before. You probably did it alot as a baby and maybe even as a small child.
When we first come over from the other side we're still open. We can still "see" things that we later lose sight of. We see all kinds of energies, our spirit guides included. So when we first arrive on this planet, spirit guides are very natural. Some of our "imaginary friends" were just such spirit guides.
So as you start working on contacting your spirit guides what you're really doing is allowing yourself to remember something you already know how to do.
Like so many things in life, you're just going to be working on getting out of your own way and letting your intuition lead the way. Of course that's always much easier said than done, isn't it?
But you might be wondering why bother? What's the point? What's so great about spirit guides anyway?
Well in a nutshell they're absolutely wonderful. Contact with your spirit guides is an absolutely incredible and magical experience.
Spirit guides are nonphysical lifeforms who've had many incarnations on this planet, and unlike you and I, they have access to the whole kit and kaboodle and then some. They're plugged right into infinite wisdom and creativity.
So think about it... If you're in the middle of a painting project why wouldn't want a hint from Van Gogh? Or if you're playing a piano piece, how about a little Mozart touch? And when you're stuck in every area of your life what would be wrong with a few words from someone like Plato or Lao Tsu?
I'm not saying Van Gogh, Mozart and Plato are your spirit guides, they may be, but they don't have to be. You have spirit guides who are just as talented and brilliant.
And it gets even better.
Because your spirit guides aren't in the physical realm right now, they can see your life and your highest purpose from a broad, totally unbiased perspective. They have a fantastic bird's eye view. They're perfectly suited to help you along the way. They, along with your higher self, are like eagles flying overhead lighting up the way.
Just think of your spirit guides as a friends, highly evolved mentors, and great teachers and just think of what contact with your spirit guides can do for you.
Your spirit guides are old soul friends or great masters. They've danced through the cycle of birth and rebirth in human and other forms many times, as we all have and they have a lot to offer you.
We're all surrounded by spirit guides. They can show up in our lives at any time (once we invite them in and actually start to allow ourselves to feel their presence that is.)
Sometimes contact with our spirit guides means they're only around for a very short time or a flicker, other times they're around for much longer periods of time--kind of like the people in your neighborhood, some are long termers and others are just passing through. You may even be able to contact some of your spirit guides for a lifetime.
Just like our friends on this planet, our spirit guides come in all kinds of varieties, shapes and forms. Some are very serious, some are very old, some are extremely young. Some of our guides are sober and serious, others are positively bursting at the seams with laugher and exuberance. Some of them are bonified clowns and practical jokers.
Contacting your spirit guides is an easy process--it's really just a process of allowing this connection to develop in your life.
As with anything in life, "when the student is ready, the teacher appears." So as you voice your intention to contact your spirit guides, be open to coincidences--books that may come your way, comments from friends, pictures or music that seem to touch you in a particularly deep way. Let yourself be open and receptive.
For most people contact with their spirit guides develops gradually over time. For most of us it isn't a sudden event.
The hardest part is keeping your mind out of it! When you do have a sense of a spirit guide, whether it's a whisper, a dream or a thought that doesn't seem to be yours, allow it. Just trust your experience. Try not to nay say it or analyze it or test it. If you can, just allow the process to unfold, and I promise you, it will!

Don't push things.
Spirit guides have to be invited into your life. Once you invite them they'll show up. And then all you need to do is create some quiet space and some time so that your contact with your spirit guides can develop into full blown communication with them.
