Perfection–really?

I love this episode from West Wing–Matt Santos’ speech at the convention. It seems to me that we get a little lost in this notion that we’re all supposed to be perfect or at least appear perfect. But really, perfect isn’t so interesting and it’s not through “perfect” that we connect to one another. We connect through real and authentic.

“We’re the hypocrites, not the Bakers; because we’re all broken, every single one of us, and yet we pretend that we’re not. We all live lives of imperfection and yet we cling to this fantasy that there’s this perfect life and that our leaders should embody it. But if we expect our leaders to live on some higher moral plain than the rest of us, well we’re just asking to be deceived.”

Just a thought….
