Navigating shame….

“You should be ashamed of yourself.” Shame is a deep-seated, ingrained emotion that was cultivated for many of us very early on in our lives. It is a debilitating emotion and one that we tend to feed rather than starve. A bit like a snowball turning into a full fledged avalanche.

Interestingly when I did a Google search for images of “ashamed” many of the pictures showed people covering their faces, trying not to be seen.

The anecdote for shame is visibility. It is precisely in not hiding that we move through shame. It is in owning our vulnerability and flawed selves with love and acceptance that we dissolve shame. It is in this self embrace that we are free to grow and learn and shine.

Just a thought.
